Organized by the PA-NWC Nurse Diversity Council, this session, will unpack Duchscher's Theory of Transition Shock to better understand the emotional, cognitive, psychical, and sociocultural challenges faced by new graduate nurses. Participants will gain insight into how intentional support and healing centered practices can foster resilience, belonging, and well being during this vulnerable transition.
Brianna Blackburn, MSN, RN, CMSRN, CNE, is a Registered Nurse, educator, and advocate for the advancement of nursing education. She earned her BSN from Widener University in 2013 and her MSN in Nursing Education from Capella University in 2019. Bri is currently an Instructor of Nursing at The Pennsylvania State University where she is also pursuing her PhD. Her research interests center around nursing students and new graduate nurses at the critical point of transition into professional practice. Her work is inspired by her own experience as a new nurse and driven by a desire to better prepare, support, and sustain nurses in their early career.
